Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks

We just got back from a wonderful 5 days at Sun Peaks. I forgot what it was like to really relax! No cell phones or computers just snowboarding, relaxing and having a few drinks in the evening to sooth the sore muscles. I even read a book while I was up there. I can't even remember the last time I read a book that didn't have to do with work, EMT, or firefighting. I chose the "secret Life of bees" which I really enjoyed.

Cascade can you hear me!

You may know where you are...God may know where you are...But if your dispatcher doesn't know where you are when you scream for help...You and God had better be on good terms.
I found this quote on someones blog and I thought it really made a point! Right now Skagit County dispatch has been having major failure to their system. It has gotten so bad at points we had to have a phone tree instead of a pagers to notifiy us of a call. Which also means no radios on scenes! which is so dangerous because what if we got into trouble and no one could hear our calls for HELP! What then. No one can communicate on a fire scene. I guess what they are saying is our lives our worth risking...

Its time to spend the money to fix the problem! Do we have to have someone die before it gets fixed. Is that what needs to happen to have gear that works properly. Protect your firefighters and EMS workers. I have noticed that this problem has been kept very quiet and been kept out of the media. I guess they are crossing their fingues and hoping nothing bad happens. And we all know what can happen when we HOPE nothing goes wrong.

Adam and I in Cabo

Adam swears he didn't get sun burned in Cabo... you be the judge.
