It's the small victories

I have been in a constant state of sleepyness for about 2 weeks. Claire has forgotten how to sleep through the night. She has been waking about 2 to 3 times a night. I finally called the dr. to find out if there was anything I could do to help her sleep through the night. She suggested that claire is starting to get seperation anxiety so when she slightly wakes up she wants mom or dad to be there. Which totally makes sense. I would walk into claires room pick her up and she would snuggle into my arms as she drifted back to sleep. She recommended that I give her 5 mins to cry and see if she would put herself back to sleep. (easier said than done) I made it about 3 1/2 min. But I didn't pick her up, I just turned on her music and rubbed her tummy and she went back to sleep. yippie! Victory! well sorta... last night she woke up 4 times! 11:30, 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30. I never had to pick her up and she went right back to sleep but mom didn't. I can't just lay back down and go back to sleep. so sleeplessness continues... like I said small victories.
Small victory number 2. Claire ate more than 3 bites of rice cereal. I have been working on this with her for a few weeks now and it was always the same, three bites than crying, screaming, and get me out of this chair! But last night I tried something new. I feed her with my fingure. She loved this! I was even able to use the spoon a few times. But she is eating her rice cereal! Small victory... even if i have to feed her with my fingure.

Claire and her daddy

These two are so cute together. Adam loves making her laugh and smile. He doesn't mind the dirty work of being a dad, diaper changes and all. When Claire was first born and we were in the hospital adam jumped right into being a dad. The nurse showed him how to change a diaper and thats all he needed he was a diaper changing pro. I didn't have to change her diaper for awhile bacause he told me breastfeeding was my thing with her and diaper changes was his thing with her. When adam works nights and he gets home at 630am claire is all smiles! He then plays with her until he can't keep his eyes open any longer. I think these to will have a special bond for life.

The teething monster

The teething monster (which is my best guess of what is wrong) has taken over my sweet baby. Claire used to sleep through the night, now she wakes up at least twice a night. I feel so bad for her! She wakes up so unhappy and sad in the middle of the night and nothing but tylenol seems to help. So every 4 hours she wakes up with a sad little cry that breaks my heart.

First Nikes

Claire has her first pair of Nikes! Her cousin Kat works at the nike outlet and bought her these cute little things! I couldn't wait to get them home and on her feet. I strapped them on her little feet and she loved them. she started moving her feet all around and trying to take a few steps while we held on to her. It was so cute!

My baby is 5 months

On thursday we played in out annual golf tournament. AND IT RAINED ALL DAY! ( notice the wet beer)I was determined to still have a good time because last year I didn't get to drink because I was pregnant. By the way this is not your average golf tournament, it a builder golf tournament which means BBQ and Kegs at almost every hole :) It is a great time to say the least. I can't believe what a crappy summer we are haviing. we have had very few sunny days.

Claire turned 5 months old over the weekend. She has changed so much over the last month. she has really been intrested in her toes and sticking them in her mouth. She also just started rice cereal. We can only get a few bites down her and she gets mad and wants her bottle but its a work in progress. She can also get some wild hair! I took her hair out of pig tails the other night and her hair just stayed up. HAHA sorry claire bear, but your just so darn cute!

6 month picture plan

Claire's going to be 5 months on Saturday so this inspired me to start planning her 6 month photo outfits. I know its still a month away but I was totally unprepared for her new born pictures and I was let searching her closet the night before her pictures and getting really frusterated about it. So now I plan ahead for pictures. I have 3 outfits in mind... The floral top with the coral leggings and a light blue bow. Jeans with the white top and red sandles and yellow bow in the hair,and maybe the striped dress which I posted in the "baby fashion show" post. She is going to be one stinken cute little one!

Rice cereal

Last night I decided to give claire a few bites of rice cereal just to see how she liked it. I was surprised when I brought the spoon to her mouth and she opened up like she had been doing this for years. she took a few small bites and got half of it all over her face. She ended up crying after about 5 bites but I think she was more upset about being confined to a chair. But I think it was a pretty good first attempt at rice cereal.
