I am a volunteer firefighter/EMT, EMS instructor, and sales/production assistant for an organic produce broker. As you can see I like pictures and if a picture is worth a thousand words then I don't have to write as much. This blog is about what ever is consuming my life at the moment.

You had a bad day
Yep i'm having one of those. I think I should just toss my phone in the ocean and then no one could call me to give me any more bad news. But then I would have a broken phone... ok rethinking that one. I could use a glass of wine! forget wine I could use a shot! oh wait I'm pregnant.... I guess sparkling cider will have to due. I just can't win today.

Birth Class
This weekend Adam and I attended a birth class. I was excitied to take this class and tour the hospital, but left feeling like I had lost all confidence in myself. I didn't realize the class would be geared toward natural child birth. I had decided to get an epidural early on in my pregnancy because I wanted to be able to enjoy the birth and not be slupt over screaming in pain. They showed us a few videos of natural child birth and one with an epidural birth. They kept saying the advantage of a natural birth is you are free to move/walk around. I was slightly confused by calling this an advantage because the women in the natural birth video where not strolling around they where sitting or on there side screaming bloody murder and looked like they were moments from death! Then they kept referring to the epidural as "risky". Later to find out its risk is less than 1%. Now I'm worried if I walk into the hospital and say "I would like an epidural" I'm going to get a nurse who will instantly judge me.

28 weeks
Hello Third Trimester. This is going faster than I thought. We have our birth class this weekend, which I am looking forward to. I have a feeling once we get through the holidays February is going to sneak up on us really fast! I'm getting very excitied to meet our little girl. Will she have dark hair or light hair? What will her eye color be? Will she look like me or her dad? How will the birth go? I have been very calm about the idea of giving birth, (which is shocking the heck out of me) I figured I would be terrified! We will see if I start to freak out as it gets closer.

Finding the perfect tree
Yesterday I got off work a little early so we could go get our Christmas tree. I think we found one in record time this year. It only took us about 15 minutes of hunting to find the perfect tree! Christmas is now in full swing at our house. Decoration, lights, and tree are now up. Let the holidays begin!

strange symptom
My ears have now been plugged for 4 days. It doesn't hurt but it is really annoying! I have tried just about everything to get them unplugged but nothing has worked. At first I thought it had soemthing to do with my cold I had been getting over, but after some reseach I found it can be a pregnancy thing. I guess with all the extra fluid the body is producing some fluid can get stuck in the inner ear. So whats the cure... Give birth! Well Im still 16 weeks away so I guess I just have to hope it goes away.

I have a plan
I finally have an idea of how i'm going to decorate the nursery. I changed my mind on the bedding after Erin and I made a trip down to Land of Nod in the U district. I also started on the mobile for over the crib. This weekend all the ladies of the family are going to get together and make the art work for her room. Should be fun!

22 weeks
Back pain has arrived. Which scares me! Little Claire is only 1 pound. How am I going to feel when she is 6 or 7 pounds. How on earth is my belly going to get bigger? It feels like my body will just fall apart if I get any bigger. I did start doing prenatal yoga to help with preparing my body for the main event. It truley is amazing that a womens body is designed to do this.

21 Weeks
How Am I Doing?
How far along? 21 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Total weight gain = 3 pounds
Stretch marks? Nope Not yet. Lets hope it stays that way!
Sleep: good...except the peeing every 2 hours and legs getting restless
Movement: She woke me up for the first time last night. It felt like there was an olympic event going on in my stomach.
Food cravings: I have been a big fan of bagels and the other day I had to have chili cheese fritos
Gender: GIRL
What I miss: Bri Cheese and Wine
What I am looking forward to: getting the nursey together
Hardest part so far? Being sick and not being able to take anything! I have been sick for 3 weeks now and it sucks!
And not being able to do what I use to do with the Fire Dept.

Big Weekend :)
On Friday we found out we will be having a girl! A lot of people (mostly men) had guessed we were having a boy. For example: My dad has called this baby his grandson from day one. So I had to call him and tell him his grandson was a girl haha. Adam still says he thinks he saw "balls" on the ultrasound. I think I'm going to believe the Ultrasound tech. After the ultrasound wedding events were in full swing. Adam's younger sister serena got married this weekend and we were both in the wedding so there was lots to do. Friday night we went to the rehersal dinner at anthonys in bellingham. On saturday we woke up early and started getting ready. I was also one of 3 photographers so I took nearly 600 pictures on saturday. The wedding turned out beautiful and the bride and groom looked like they had a wonderful time.

18 week bump
I had to take this in the bathroom at my work because I took down my mirror to paint our bedroom and still have not put it back up. Today baby is the size of a bell pepper. I have felt the baby wiggle and poke me a few times, poor Adam keeps trying to feel it but I'm pretty sure its still a little early for him to feel baby. We get to find out the sex of the baby in about a week and a half! I'm so excitied to find out!
I tried the drano test which sounds crazy but I have been told it has worked for people. The test consists of putting crystal drano in a jar and then adding some pee to it. If it turns green or blue its a girl and if it turns brown its a boy. Mine turned green. so according to drano im having a girl. We will have to wait and see if it worked.

The stations first Boo Boo
We knew it would happen sooner or later... The station would get injured in some way. I have to say its a minor Boo Boo to the station but the big winner of the who will damage the station first goes to Andrew! And to celebrate the damage, your mark will have your name on it for everyone to see. Well I do have to mention its the post outside of the station and not the station itself.

Flying some new colors
This weekend I went and helped our neighboor fire dept do a "fill the boot" fundraiser. I accidently left my sweatshirt behind when I went home. and this is the picture I recieved a short time later. Damn it, I broke rule #1! Never, NEVER leave anything behind with firefighters! I'm lucky it only got sent up the flag pole!

Mt St Helens
This weekend we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday! For his birthday he wanted to climb Mt. St. Helens. Wow was it harder than I thought it would be. It took us 6 hours to make it to the top, and 3.5 hours to make it down. In some places we would sink up to our knees with every step. 10 of us attempted the climb and 7 of us made it to the top. I was one of the lucky 7 that made it to the top. So I guess its pretty neat that I can say I spent my dad's 60th birthday with him at 8,400ft! What a great feeling to accomplish something like this with your family.
